Protecting your private information is our priority. The prepper-nerd.com website (the “Site”) is comprised of various web pages operated by Pivot Course LLC (“Pivot Course”). This Statement of Privacy applies to prepper-nerd.com and Pivot Course’s services and governs data collection and usage. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to Prepper Nerd include the prepper-nerd.com website (the “Site”) and services branded with the Prepper Nerd brand. The Site is an ecommerce site. By using the Site and its related services, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

Collection of your Personal Information
In order to better provide you with products and services offered on our Site, Pivot Course may collect personally identifiable information. We collect your Personal Data through a variety of methods: either you provide it to us
directly, we collect it from external sources, or we collect it by using automated means. You may give us information about you by filling in forms on our Sites or by corresponding with us by phone, email or otherwise.

  • Information We Collect Required by Law, Rule, or Regulation: Depending on the Service, we may collect information from you in order to meet regulatory obligations around know-your-customer (“KYC”) and the information that we collect from you includes the following: External Sources: We also receive information from other sources and combine that with the information we collect through our Services. For instance, we use “cookies” from time to time to help personalize your online experience with us. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer to help us make your visit to our Sites more “user-friendly.” Cookies provide us with information about your use of the Sites that can help us improve the Sites and your experience with it.   • Advertising or analytics providers may provide us with anonymized information about you, including but not limited to, how you found our website.

If you purchase Pivot Course’s products and services, we collect billing and credit card information. This information is used to complete the purchase transaction. This is done through a third party payment processing service, and Pivot Course never has access to your payment information, other than the Personal Information listed above.

You may be required to provide certain personal information to us when you elect to use certain products or services available on the Site. These may include: (a) registering for an account on our Site; (b) entering a sweepstakes or contest sponsored by us or one of our partners; (c) signing up for special offers from selected third parties; (d) sending us an email message; (e) submitting your credit card or other payment information when ordering and purchasing products and services on our Site. To wit, we will use your information for, but not limited to, communicating with you in relation to services and/or products you have requested from us. We also may gather additional personal or non-personal information in the future.

On what basis do we collect your data?

We only use your Personal Data where we have a legal basis to do so:

You always have the option to unsubscribe from our mailings, e.g., via the unsubscribe link in our newsletter; Perform risk management, including comparing information for accuracy and verify it with third parties and protect against, identify and prevent fraud and other prohibited or illegal activity, claims and other liabilities; and Enforce our contractual terms.

Pivot Course collects and uses your personal information to operate its website(s) and deliver the services that we offer.

Pivot Course may also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from Pivot Course and its affiliates.

Pivot Course will not share information collected in your Ultimate Prep System (formerly known as the Prep Inventory System) in any way that is personally identifiable, unless we have obtained your informed consent to do so.

Pivot Course may aggregate information collected by multiple users of the Ultimate Prep System to provide information publicly about the makeup of the collective data stored within the system. This information would only be shared if done so in a way that is not personally identifiable to any user.

Sharing Information with Third Parties
Pivot Course does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists, nor individual user’s data or personally identifiable information, to third parties.

Pivot Course may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information is not transferred to the third party. Pivot Course may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Pivot Course, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

Pivot Course may disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Pivot Course or the Site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Pivot Course; and/or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Pivot Course, or the public.

How long do we keep your data?

We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting obligations or to resolve disputes. While retention requirements vary by jurisdiction, information about our typical retention periods for different aspects of your personal information are described below.

  • Contact Information such as your name, email address and telephone number for marketing purposes is retained on an ongoing basis until you unsubscribe. Thereafter we will add your details to our suppression list to ensure we do not inadvertently market to you.
  • Content that you post on our Sites such as support desk comments, photographs, videos, blog posts, and other content may be kept after you close your account for audit and crime prevention purposes (e.g. to prevent a  known fraudulent actor from opening a new account).
  • Information collected via technical means such as cookies, web page counters and other analytics tools is kept for a period of up to one year from expiry of the cookie.

When Personal Data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, we will remove any details that identifies you or we will securely destroy the records, where permissible.
